DOZZA IS AN OPEN AIR GALLERY

Written by RavennaMyWay. Posted in One day tours

It’s a guided tour of the enchanting medieval hamlet of Dozza (the Romanesque church, the village surrounded by the ancient walls and its paved alleys, the imposing castle) plus a unforgettable Wine and Food tasting: local specialties accompany the wine in a well known farm. Dozza is unique because the many paintings that adorn the facades of houses give it a distinctive appearance.  In four days of September, famous national and international artists perform permanent works on the walls of the houses of the small town, giving it the peculiar characteristic of open-air art gallery.

  • Duration: 4,30/5 hours
  • Number of participants: from 3 to 16
  • Price per person: 45 euro

                                                             The offer includes

  • Trasport
  • Guided tour
  • Wine and food tasting in a local farm

We visit the old town, the characteristic shape zone, which still retains its original urban structure of medieval style, and the Sforza Castle, located at the height of the country. Later transformed into the elegant Palazzo Malvezzi Campeggi, the majestic fortress was built by Caterina Sforza. The Campeggi dinasty transformed it in a palace at the end of '500. The fortress passed subsequently, by inheritance, to the family Malvezzi-Campeggi who lived there until 1960. Very interesting are the apartments on the main floor, the living room, the sitting rooms and bedrooms, the kitchen, the prisons, the torture chambers, the walkways on the towers; the underground houses the "Enoteca Regionale dell 'Emilia Romagna".

On the way back: we visit a farm, producing high quality wines; tasting of local products and wines included.
